Kingston City Hall implements visitor access process

Beginning Tuesday, July 28, 2026, visitors entering Kingston City Hall during regular business hours will report to the front reception desk for a brief check-in and direction. Signage will direct visitors to the reception area.  

Visitors attending public-facing service areas, including the Payment Centre and Elections Office, may proceed to the applicable service area after checking in. Visitors attending meetings or conducting business in non-public areas will be met and escorted by City staff.

Tourists and self-guided visitors may continue to visit designated public areas after checking in. Organized tours and groups attending meetings, events or civic activities are also required to report to the front reception desk.

The process is the result of a third-party threat risk assessment of City Hall and ongoing workplace health and safety planning. It is a proactive measure and is not being introduced in response to a specific incident or threat.

City Hall remains open to residents, tourists, visitors, staff and individuals conducting business with the city; this new process is intended to support safety and wayfinding without changing that commitment.
