Nominations open for Kingston's Celebrating Accessibility Awards
Nominations are now open for the City of Kingston's 2026 Celebrating Accessibility Awards, recognizing individuals, businesses and community organizations that are helping make Kingston more accessible and inclusive.
The awards celebrate achievements that improve accessibility in areas including built environment, customer service, design of public spaces, education, employment, health care, information and communication, and transportation.
"Accessibility is strengthened by the efforts of people, businesses and organizations across our community," says Nicole Yantzi, Project Manager, Accessibility. "A nomination is an opportunity to recognize their work and share their story."
Nominees must be Kingston residents, organizations or businesses that have made a positive contribution to accessibility within the past three years. Nominees should not have accessibility-related responsibilities as part of their paid employment or education, unless they have demonstrated an exceptional accomplishment beyond those expectations.
The City offers multiple ways to submit nominations to help ensure the process is accessible to everyone. Nominations can be completed online at CityofKingston.ca/Awards or in person at City Hall (216 Ontario St.), with assistance and alternate formats available upon request.
Nominations close at 4 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2026.
The recipients of the 2026 Celebrating Accessibility Awards will be announced later this fall.
