Kingston Disposal Site

There are temporary changes to the wood waste drop-off. Learn how to dispose of your wood waste.

The Kingston Disposal Site at 189 Lappan’s Ln. is where residents can drop off their leaf and yard waste and household hazardous waste items.

"Kingston Disposal Site" is a temporary name for this City-owned property. We are currently developing a new facility for these disposal services, and a new name will be chosen once that facility is completed.

Recycling depot

The recycling convenience drop-off depot at 196 Lappan’s Ln. has ceased operations.

In Kingston, curbside collection remains a convenient, accessible option for residential recycling. The curbside collection program is operated by CMO. All residential properties have recycling options as they receive or are eligible for curbside collection in the City of Kingston.

Use our What Goes Where tool to help confirm what items are recyclable. As of Jan. 1, 2026, even more items are being accepted in recycling bins across Ontario. Find out more on the CMO website

Hazardous waste depot

Do not put hazardous waste in your garbage or recycling.

Hazardous waste drop-off at 189 Lappan’s Ln. will allow residents of the City of Kingston to dispose of hazardous materials. It is only accepted seasonally and on specific days. Please confirm drop-off times prior to coming.

Drop-off times: April to November, Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Temporary changes to the wood waste drop-off

Construction has begun on the new Household Hazardous Waste drop-off site at 189 Lappan's Ln. This work will take a few months. While it is happening, the wood waste drop-off area will be closed.

Starting Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025 you cannot drop off large wood waste (branches, trunks, and stumps larger than 3 inches/8 cm) at the Yard Waste site at 189 Lappans Lane.

You can still drop off large wood waste for free at the Tomlinson Organics site at 2069 Joyceville Rd. This restriction will stay in place until the site work is finished. We will share an update when the wood waste drop-off area reopens.

You can still drop off leaves and small brush (less than 3 inches/8 cm) at 189 Lappans Lane as usual. This includes live Christmas trees with tinsel and decorations removed.

Textiles

You can drop off textile items such as old clothing, towels and rags at Renewal Squared bins, found all around the city.

The Renewal Squared bin at 189 Lappan’s Ln. has been temporarily removed due to construction.
