Grand Theatre Usher Volunteer

Volunteers at Kingston Grand Theatre serve as hosts, supporting various roles in both the Regina Rosen Auditorium and the Baby Grand to ensure guests have a welcoming, comfortable, and enjoyable experience.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Ticket takers: Collect and scan tickets at entry points
  • Ushers: Guide patrons to their seats and assist with seating arrangements
  • Coat check: Manage the coat check station for guest convenience
  • Patron assistance: Provide additional support to patrons with special needs, within the theatre’s capacity

Volunteers may also assist occasionally with other tasks, such as:

  • Stuffing envelopes for mailings
  • Dropping off brochures to local businesses
  • Co-hosting receptions and special events

Qualifications

  • Ability to think clearly and follow designated procedures in an emergency and/or stressful situation
  • Ability to quickly identify and resolve problems
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and to climb stairs
  • Ability to adapt to a variety of circumstances
  • Available at least 2 shifts per month from September to May
  • Have an interest and enthusiasm for the performing arts
  • Have a willingness to serve all patrons of the theatre with care and respect
  • Have a friendly and professional attitude
