Belle Park Master Plan

Belle Park is the City's largest urban park at 45 hectares in size, located west of the Cataraqui River. The park was formerly a landfill that was converted into a park in the late 1970s.

City Council approved the Belle Park Master Plan in 2019 to redevelop the park.

What is the purpose of the plan?

The master plan serves as a roadmap for the redevelopment of Belle Park. It is informed by development principles, opportunities, and constraints identified through the consultation process to enhance the park's functionality and appeal.

What service does the plan cover?

The plan envisions a 15-year transformation of Belle Park, featuring various active-use park amenities and extensive naturalized public spaces. Additional recreational amenities are planned near Montreal Street, while more natural amenities are located closer to Belle Island and the waterfront. Recreation, nature, trails, accessibility, public safety, and indigenous interests are all part of the Belle Park master plan.
