Election Compliance Audit Committee

The Election Compliance Audit Committee hears applications requesting an audit of a candidate's or third-party advertiser's election campaign finances. It also reviews reports from the City Clerk requesting a review of a contribution to a candidate's or third-party advertiser's campaign.

A person who is an eligible voter in an election and believes, on reasonable grounds, that a candidate or third-party advertiser has violated the election campaign finance regulations in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, may apply for a compliance audit of that candidate or third-party advertiser's election campaign finances. The application must be made to the City Clerk in writing and must include reasons why the voter believes a violation has occurred.
